Bill Barber Memorial Park

This park is a nice place to walk jog or relax with the family. It has a big playground, lots of picnic areas and tennis courts. It’s also a great place to play Pokemon Go with the kids.

The park is named after the late Marine Col Bill Barber. He was credited for saving the lives of 8,000 American troops during the battle of Chosin Reservoir in Korea in 1950. Click here for more info.

Sports Facilities

The 42-acre Bill Barber Memorial Park boasts many sports facilities, including baseball diamonds and soccer overlay fields, tennis courts, and a jogging path. There are also children’s playground amenities, picnic areas, and an amphitheater that can be rented for special events.

The park honors Marine Col. Bill Barber, Irvine’s most decorated war hero. He led his men into the icy Toktong Pass in North Korea and saved 8,000 American lives. Irvine named the park after him in 2000.

The park’s basketball courts, full-size soccer field, and modern playground attract athletes and families alike. The modern restrooms feature touch-free fixtures to prevent the spread of germs.

Playgrounds

It’s also a beautiful place to stretch your legs on a stroll. The paved pathway runs alongside the creek, and you can hop off to explore its scenic banks or take in Irvine’s many cultural events held at the park.

Families with kids enjoy this park for its playground and sports facilities, including the Deanna Manning softball field and a soccer field. It’s also a popular spot for picnicking, and you can reserve one of the park’s six picnic shelters through the Pacer app. Other amenities include a gazebo, a pond with model sailboats, and a footbridge over the lake. This stunning park is dedicated to a former Marine, and its grounds are imbued with military history.
